Frequently Asked Questions

General

What does an RHT do, and can I get a puppy if I don’t have one?
RHT stands for "Redeemable Hashpuppy Token", and acts as a voucher for a free random puppy at game launch. An RHT token itself does not represent a puppy,
but will be exchangeable for a non-fungible token that does once the game is out.
Regardless of whether or not a player has any RHT, they will still be able to purchase a puppy once the game has launched.

Think of it like this. You go to a bakery the day before their grand opening, where vouchers for one free bun are being handed out.
This doesn’t mean you can’t get a bun at the grand opening if you don’t have a voucher, all it means is that if you have a voucher, you can get a free bun,
and if you don’t have a voucher, you’ll have to pay for it with money.

Keep in mind, if there's a large crowd at the bakery and the bakery runs out, someone might not get a bun at the grand opening.
The voucher guarantees they’ll receive one, and if they don't have a voucher they might have to wait until more are made,
but they'll still be able to get one eventually.
In this case the grand opening is the release of the game, the vouchers are the RHT which were given away in the airdrop,
and the buns are Gen0 puppies which can also be bought with GAS which is the money the “bakery” accepts. (The bakery being the HashPuppies game)
How the token will map to a puppy? Will it be randomly generated when you claim your puppy or will the tokens all be made so they hold the code to make a specific puppy?
The pool of non-fungible tokens that will be the basis of the puppy DNA will be pre-generated. We haven't decided yet if the redemption will get you a specific puppy of choice from the pool based on visible appearance or whether it's luck of the draw.
When can I redeem my puppy token?
When the game is live, you'll be able to redeem your token.
How much will a HashPuppy cost at the game launch?
This is something that has not yet been decided, and we will not announce it beforehand.
Please note that we intend to keep the game affordable, and we will likely be following the model of in-game purchases rather than relying on a high initial cost for a user to get started in the game as a revenue stream.
Why isn't the team releasing more updates?
Many components we're hesitant to show until launch, because the game changes continuously as we adjust to meet deadlines and as the game is created, many things change. One of these things was a retool of the puppy models, and we've been abstaining from showing any footage without these new models in order to avoid giving a false sense of what the final game will look like.

Another reason is that a lot of the progress being made is, well, hard to see! Merely coded tests make for boring updates.
What is taking the game so long? Why is the roadmap off?
We are working hard to create a fully-fledged game with 3D graphics and gameplay, rather than a static cash-grab.
As such, we have needed to adjust the roadmap to make sure that we can produce a satisfying experience.
Some things are also out of our control, such as the NFT standard implementation.

Rest assured, HashPuppies is still making steady progress, and we're still aiming for a Q3 release!

Why were limitations on qualifying wallets for the airdrop not announced in advance?
Well, with airdrops you can't really reveal the rules beforehand, otherwise people will circumvent them and game the system. For instance, we excluded GAS transactions specifically because someone has created over 100K throwaway addresses by shifting around minute quantities of GAS over the last couple of months. If we had said before the time window was up that GAS was excluded, they or someone else would have probably started doing the same thing by temporarily buying a bunch of NEO, creating a bunch of 1-NEO addresses, then waiting till the end of the snapshot window and selling it all.
Why the limitation of 99 NEO? Why aren't people who believe and are invested more in the NEO blockchain not rewarded more?
Think about it this way - long time holders are already incentivized to evangelize about Neo, and the price goes up slowly. But introduce a lot of small-time newcomers to Neo for the first time, and get them excited about the platform, and the long time holders earn way more from the corresponding increase in demand for NEO/GAS than they would from just getting a single airdrop token thrown their way.
Is it possible to participate in the airdrop if I've got too much NEO? If not, is there still a way to get RHT?
No, those addresses have already been determined. If you have a hankering to get your hands on some RHT, our Discord is a great place to keep tabs on our various community rewards and giveaways. And remember, these are just free tokens to redeem for a puppy when the game launches. You can always participate in the game and we plan on keeping the game affordable.
How do I get a puppy token from community participation?
We want people to be active-- and positive-- contributors in our community. Many of you are actively answering questions for others, asking to contribute on the dev side and giving us solid ideas about the game and we're taking note of all of this!
Please check our Discord for more information.
I don't want my token, can I trade it to someone else?
It's a NEP-5 token, you can send it to/from any wallet/exchange that supports the contract.
What is the contract hash for the token?
2328008e6f6c7bd157a342e789389eb034d9cbc4
I didn’t have any NEO transactions during the qualifying window of time for the airdrop, I only claimed GAS during that time, am I left out?
Good news! In order to claim GAS your wallet would have to send all your NEO to yourself, so if that’s true, you did send NEO and you do qualify!
How do I get my tokens if my NEO is in an exchange?
There's no good way to send tokens to an exchange and have them distributed to the users unless the exchange themselves actively makes it happen unfortunately.
I have my NEO in a wallet, why am I not seeing my puppy token in there yet?
When the airdrop finished on Jan 1, if your address qualified, it was assigned to that address automatically. If you're using the NEON wallet, you'll need to have at least Neon 0.0.8 to view the token.
So if my coins were in Binance and they don’t have NEP-5 at the time of the drop, then the token won’t be recorded?
It depends on how Binance keeps your NEO really. If they move it all to their main wallet and just make a mark in their ledger that you own x amount of NEO, then no, it wouldn't get recorded. There's no way to reward an off-chain balance.
